Credentials & Training

Yoga Alliance Advanced Teacher Training

200 Hours (YA) Certified, November 2020

The 2-year training provided 200 hours of tuition, practice and study. Each of the modules included theoretical, practical and experiential components and explored a central topic.

 The content included the following:

  • Foundations of embodied awareness applied to breath, movement, asana and teaching;

  • The subtle body, purposeful sequencing and approaches and strategies in teaching; and

  • Expansion of the realm of yoga for mental health, trauma, self-care and transformative space.

This 2-year Advanced Teacher Training Programme deepened my understanding of the rich and diverse expression of yoga, honouring tradition alongside fresh & innovative approaches. For me personally it fostered a more enriched and authentic teaching style and voice that inspires and embodies asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, experiential anatomy + physiology, subtle body anatomy, voicework and chanting, lifestyle and ethics and applied teaching methodology.

Upon completion, we were required to design and present a 30-minute dissertation on a chosen subject. I presented my findings on ‘Yoga As An Alternative Therapy for Mother’s in the Home-Start Charity.’

Additionally, it included the history of yoga, yoga philosophy (Yoga Sutras attributed to Patanjali) and the different paths of yoga.
