Volunteer & Charity Work

Home-Start UK Volunteer & Pranayama Coach
2019-current

Home-Start is a UK based network of trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children. Families struggling with depression, isolation, physical health problems, bereavement and many other issues receive the support of a volunteer who will spend around 2 hours a week in a family’s home supporting them in the ways they need. I am assigned to a family and work with them on a weekly basis in their home.

Additionally, I lead a bi-monthly 15-minute breath workshop via Zoom with families in the Home-Start community. In this workshop I discuss basic principles of breathing and introduce simple techniques to implement into a daily routine. We then put the techniques to practice and the families are invited, along with their children, to give it a go. This is done on a volunteer basis and specifically designed for families in the Home-Start Programme.

Volunteers for the Home-Start charity are professionally trained to work with people struggling with mental health and domestic abuse. Training and other topics include: child protection regulations, boundaries and personal safety and confidentiality/data protection.
